Metroplex Waterproofing, Inc. was established as a Corporation in 1987, in Duncanville, Texas by Mr. Robert L. Ellis. Prior to this, Mr. Ellis had been doing business as Shivers Roofing and Construction, established in 1983. Currently, our offices are in Red Oak, Texas, having moved there in 1990. We have been members of AAGD since 1983. In 2008, operations were expanded to include the Austin and San Antonio Market with Mr. Paul Mitchell heading up the Regional Office Operations in Austin, Texas.
Team Members
Mr. Robert Ellis is a graduate of Grand Prairie High School and Dallas Baptist University, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education and Master’s work at the Perkins School of Business at SMU in accounting. Upon graduation, Mr. Ellis was with Home Life of New York for three years, before deciding on a career change that took him to Van Winkle Motors. There he appraised Cars and worked on the Pre-Owned Car Lot. After two years there, he went to work at Zelrich Steel of Dallas, working as the Comptroller’s Assistant in Accounting.
Wanting to have his own business, Mr. Ellis established Christian Brothers Roofing in 1982. While in Houston, Texas, he met Mr. Chuck Shivers, who was active in Commercial Leak Repair with the Greater Houston Apartment Association. Mr. Shivers offered to aid and assist Mr. Ellis in opening a branch of Shivers Roofing & Construction in Dallas, Texas. In December of 1983, Mr. Ellis sold his interest in Christian Brothers Roofing and opened the Dallas Branch of Shivers Roofing & Construction. In 1987, operations in Dallas spun-off and became Metroplex Waterproofing, Inc.
Mr. Ellis remains active in Music through his participation in various Church-related Music Ministries, including composition, vocal work, keyboard work and arranging and recording. Robert is active with the Singing Men of Texas, a Southern Baptist group comprised of Ministers of Music who give 9 Concerts a year. In addition, he currently is involved with his brother, Ray, Ellis and a long time friend, Billy Shaw, working together as a trio know as the New Creations. Work is currently underway for the production of a new CD.
Mr. Robert Morris is from Lancaster, Texas, where he starred in High School Football as a running back, plus he was a state champion in Wrestling. He has over twenty years experience in Waterproofing, including high-rise, below grade plus he has been a crew forman, dispatcher, field superentendent as well as doing take-offs for bidding and other office positions. Mr. Morris’s expert knowledge in safety training and blueprint bidding has opened new doors of opportunity for our Company. Robert lives in Ft. Worth, is married with four children.
Mr. Bryan Ellis resides in Irving, Texas. An expert Waterproofer and Caulk Technican, Bryan has performed numerous projects over the years that required specialized training. Additionally, he has been in charge of several Above-Grade as well as Below-Grade Waterproofing projects. Bryan is person in charge of our safety program as well as providing MSDS documentation on all or our big projects. Bryan brings to us years of experience and knowledge that are invaluable to anyone who utilizes our services.
